Sanctuary of Angels

Colour My Soul - Jeanine Hanneman

God has blessed us with colours in nature and the Angels urge us to allow these colours to work with us and through us so that our lives may be further enriched.

Colour My Soul is an innovative workshop designed to explore the meaning of colour and how we can deepen our awareness to benefit from colour in our lives.

Colour is part of our world and nature provides us with many opportunities to marvel at what we see, whether a sunset, flowers, a rainbow, autumn leaves, a golden beach, trees or mountains. If we stop for a moment and take in the beauty we see with our eyes, we can feel the colours responding deep within our being.

The ancients knew the power of colour. In Egypt, colour was used in the healing temples and even today colours can still be seen painted on the temple ruins. Over time this knowledge has long been forgotten as focus changed to the science of modern medicine, however, it is slowly returning to our consciousness as we begin to remember how and why colour affects us.

All colour comes from light, light is energy and splits into the spectrum of seven colours which form a rainbow, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Each colour has a wavelength with a corresponding vibration. Everything on the Earth is made of energy, including human beings and thus we all respond to colour. Around our physical body is an energy field of colour called an aura, this energy field connects with our physical body through the chakras. The colours of our aura are dependent on our state of health, and can change according to our moods. Colour affects our emotions and can transform and uplift us as well as change the atmosphere in a room. Our language describes the emotions we feel, for example, “I feel blue”, “green with envy”, “red rag to a bull”, “yellow coward” used to describe a low mood, jealousy, anger and fear.

We take in colour primarily through our visual senses, and it can also be absorbed into the body by the food we eat, the clothes we wear, our environment. In addition, the vibration of colour can be picked up through sound, each musical note corresponding to a different colour.

Colour My Soul workshops will be held on 5th December 2009 and throughout 2010.
